Catch The Drift hung on to defeat Kasami by a neck with The Garden back in third place. Bohorun told The Standard he was glad Catch The Drift's win got the monkey off his back.
"It's a huge relief to have ridden my first Victorian winner at Warrnambool," he said.
"I've been in Warrnambool for 15 months and it's just wonderful to have rode my first Victorian winner here. I was quietly confident at the 250-metre mark that I would be hard to beat. The support I've received from the local racing fraternity including Jo Mugavin, Luke Williams, Jenny Smith and the Purcell stable has been outstanding.
"I had a break of nearly four years out of the saddle before I shifted to Warrnambool; I'm glad I came back to riding.
"I just haven't had the riding opportunities I would have liked but I've got my fingers crossed that after Catch The Drift's win I might be able to get a few more rides from trainers."
Meanwhile, Warrnambool trainer Simon Ryan outlined jumping plans for Johnny Karate after the three-year-old won a high-weight flat race over 2350 metres.
Johnny Karate - having his second race start for Ryan - beat Allabouther and Banner Boy. Ryan said Johnny Karate would take part in a jumps trial at Warrnambool next Friday. "I'm still learning about Johnny Karate," he said.
"I think he'll stay all day. I would love to have him ready for a maiden hurdle at the Warrnambool May Carnival." Bradley Thomas-Rantall had the winning ride.
