Trevor Dowie is a veteran of the school crossing caper, having entered his 23rd year on the job.
His current post is at Warrnambool East Primary School, although this week has been far from business as usual.
The Victorian state government's decision to introduce a snap five-day stage four lockdown last Friday meant the number of students attending school for the first three days of the school week plummeted.
But despite the low numbers, Mr Dowie knows the importance of his job remains at its usual high level.
"It doesn't matter how many children there are using the crossing, we have to make sure every single one can safely cross the road," he said.
"It's been very quiet this week with only a few kids going to school."
At the Morris Road school crossing, Joy Cook has been on duty, on what is a labour of love.
"I have been working on crossing for three and a half years and I love it, I would recommend it to anyone," she said.
