The conditional sale of the Yambuk Inn follows legal action in the Supreme Court to evict a publican who lawyers claimed had defaulted on an agreement to occupy the land last year.
Roberts One Real Estate's Danny Roberts, who arranged the recent sale, said it was an "absolutely fantastic" outcome for the community.
"I love to see country pubs survive because they are a really important community hub," Mr Roberts said.
"It will definitely continue to be a pub.
"There are plenty of country pubs closing and not reopening and it's horrible."
Mr Roberts said there was a lot of interest in the pub following media attention last year.
"There will be some disappointed people who have missed out on it but unfortunately there can only be one buyer," he said.
The property was bought by a south-west business owner who did not respond to requests for comment on Wednesday.
The property sold for less than $500,000, with parties saying they were "happy" with the price.
Vendor Rob Evans said the site had been a pub since 1868 and to his knowledge had "never been closed" until recently.
"I am relieved and grateful that the hotel has been sold which is great for the community," Mr Evans said."
"It's been a stressful and emotional time for me over the past 18 months and it is a great relief now knowing the new owners intend to run it as a hotel."
Mr Evans owned the hotel since 2005 and operated it until 2016 when he sold the lease but continued to own it.
"It's been a big part of my life and my kids' lives during the years we operated it as a hotel," he said. "It's just the atmosphere and mateship that you build with the patrons over the time."
The agent expects the sale to become unconditional within a month.
