"So it was good to hold our catches today and to get a run-out was also very helpful at the end there."
Like previous years, Place got to experience a premiership win with his cousins - Grant and Tom Place as well as Brad Hillman.
He's hoping the Bulls bring their best during the Sungold tournament.
"We were very disappointing against Stoneyford a couple of years ago and it would be nice to at least be competitive this year, we'll wait and see how we go," he said.
Portland Colts, Hawkesdale, Swifts/Great Western, South Gambier, City United and Pigeon Ponds are among the teams already in the Cup.
It will be played in Warrnambool, Dennington and Allansford.
Quarter-finals are on Sunday January 24 with semi-finals and the grand final on Tuesday January 26.
