PROMISING Warrnambool galloper Mystery Shot will trial before racing again following a disappointing performance in a $125,000 restricted race at Flemington on Saturday.

Mystery Shot, who was resuming from a spell, was going for his sixth consecutive victory for leading Warrnambool trainer Lindsey Smith but the four-year-old ran last in the eight-horse field.
Smith could offer no explanation to Racing Victoria stewards after the dismal effort.
"I was really disappointed with his run," the multiple group one winning trainer said.
"I'll have my vet check over Mystery Shot and get blood tests done while I keep the stewards informed with the results.
"We'll give Mystery Shot a trial before we present him back at the races."
Apprentice jockey Will Price, who rode Mystery Shot could offer no excuse to the stewards for the poor performance.

Meanwhile, Amish Boy and Away Game filled the minor placings for Ciaron Maher in the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Aim, trained by the Snowden stable, won the 1400-metre race.
Maher, who trains in partnership with David Eustace, was happy with the performances of his two runners in the $2 million race.
"Amish Boy was very brave," Maher said.
"His effort was huge. It would have been interesting if he drew a better barrier.
"He's just starting to put it all together. He should have a good autumn campaign.
"Away Game was very honest in running third."
The Winslow training export was disappointed Fake Love had to be scratched on Friday morning from the $2 million Magic Millions two-year-old Classic on Saturday, after showing signs of soreness in her near-fore leg.
Maher and Eustace purchased 37 yearlings for more then $11 million at the Magic Millions Yearling Sales on the Gold Coast over the last week.
