Overseas travel bans scrapped plans for Cam Munro and husband Sam who had organised to celebrate their honeymoon at Munich's Oktoberfest last year.
Instead the couple got together with seven Warrnambool friends, who also had plans to go the German event, for a day out at Rafferty's Tavern.
"I think the atmosphere is pretty similar," Ms Munro said. "A bit more Sweet Caroline."
She wore a dirndl Ms Munro said she picked up in Germany, "dragged from the cupboard from many a-year".
"For me it's been instead of heading overseas last year we have an excuse to catch up," she said.
Rotary Club of Warrnambool club member Anne Adams said the weekend's book sale in the Warrnambool Club was a "huge success".
"As we were packing up, we were still selling books," she said. "We had heaps of people from out of town come in.
"We're talking about how we'd do another sale and how we'd freshen things up.
"We'll probably give it another run, there seems to be no shortage of quality books."
