The teams meet at the MCG on Sunday night, and Finch will open after coming in at No.4 in the Renegades' loss to Brisbane on Thursday, when he made 13.

Australia's one-day captain has been in lean form this season, with his team managing just two wins from 10 outings while the Stars are in finals contention in fourth.

Finch said while he had shown good form in the nets, he had not been able to transfer it to games.

"I've been a little bit timid in my approach at the crease," Finch said.

"There's been some times when I've got out being a little bit too defensive minded and not looking to take the ultra-aggressive approach.

"I know when I'm playing my absolute best in T20 cricket that's how I play, so hopefully in these last four games I can bring some of that back."

Finch said he had been guilty of trying to get through to the 14th or 15th over, rather than being aggressive.

"It's only an attitude thing so I can change that," he said.

Meanwhile, the Stars have lost Pakistan pace bowler Haris Rauf, who has been included in Pakistan's Test squad for their upcoming home series against South Africa.

Rauf will fly out this weekend to join the Pakistan squad in a bio-secure bubble in Karachi ahead of the first Test on January 26.

Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell said Rauf's departure would be felt in his team.

"Obviously Haris is going to be a big loss but he gets to play Test cricket for his nation and that's an amazing achievement," Maxwell said.

"Last year we saw him leave because he was making his Pakistan debut and this year they've gone one step forward and (are) taking him for the red ball as well.

"His rise over the last 18 months has been outstanding."

Maxwell said Nathan Coulter-Nile's imminent return from injury was well-timed.

The Stars are coming off a crushing 111-run win over the Adelaide Strikers on Friday, with West Indian Andre Fletcher smacking 89 not out.
