Premier Speedway general manager David Mills said it was exciting to see a strong field forming.
"The planned format was always having towards 60 cars as it makes life easier for running the event," he said.
"We understand there is still a number of teams weighing up there options because of COVID border restrictions but If it does grow to 60 it's a testimony to the club, the track, the classic weekend and the teams who are coming to race."
Mills said tickets, which is limited at 3000, were selling steadily but encouraged punters wishing to come to get in early.
"We are getting there. Night two is more popular than the first night," he said.
"We need it to make event viable. If we sell to the capacity of the event we won't make money for club but we made a conscious decision when COVID bans lifted that we would still provide good prize money and to keep them rolling out we'd love the public to come out."
