The trio fell 22-17 shots to John Hallam, David Daws and Brad Orr from Shepparton Golf on Tuesday.
The side made up of Scott Boschen, Blackie Lenehan and Peter Daly defeated Yarrawonga MGCR 17-14 shots in the opening round.
Boschen, the team's skipper, was thrilled with the first-round win.
"We got out to a good start, we were able to hang onto to a lead and played some good ends at the finish to get us over the line," he said.
It was an exciting conclusion with the Yarrawonga MGCR trio in heavy discussion before what was to be the final bowl of the match.
"He was just trying to kill it to go again because he couldn't make five to keep going," Boshcen explained.
The skipper said the focus for round two was to keep the momentum going.
"We all bowled pretty well so if we try and keep that form up - just try and get them (the bowls) close," he said.
Boschen and his teammates are enjoying the atmosphere of State Champions Week which has attracted players from all over Victoria to Warrnambool.
"It's a great event to be a part of, a lot of good bowlers, it has a different atmosphere about it - it's a really good event to be in," he said.
"We had good home support here, that was great, it's always good to have support."
While Boschen is taking a summer off Western District Bowls pennant, Lenehan and Daly play for the club's weekend top-grade side.
Daly also plays midweek pennant division one.
Boschen said State Champions Week was a good hit-out for him as he was taking a break from pennant.
"It is actually, I play a couple of tournaments but this is what I'm concentrating on this year," he said.
The skipper explained he had been playing the sport for about 15 years with the past five at Koroit.
