Police are honing in on an offender who used a power tool to steal cash from an automatic teller machine.
Detective Senior Constable Scott Chandler, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said that last Thursday a thief stole cash from an ATM at the Coles in Colac Plaza off Queen Street.
"A review of CCTV in the area has led to us being able to narrow our field of investigation," he said.
"Anyone with information is requested to contact the Colac police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Enquiries are ongoing. "
A male offender entered the plaza just after 1am last Thursday.
A police spokeswoman said the offender used black spray paint to cover the inside security camera and blackened out the window before he accessed a free standing ATM with some kind of power tool and removed a large amount of cash before leaving in a vehicle.
"No arrests have been made at this stage," she said.
