Craig Bonney, who joined the Younger Street-based club in 1999, has resigned from his contract.
It brings down the curtain on a two-decade run as both Warrnambool's PGA professional and as a director of his on course pro shop.
A Warrnambool Golf Club statement said Bonney would assist the committee of management with the transition process through the club's busy summer months.
"Craig has significantly contributed to the growth and development of golf, not only at the Warrnambool Golf Club but throughout the entire south-west region," president Paul Blain said.
"Having dedicated the majority of his golfing career in Warrnambool, this was by no means an easy decision for him, but one that we are fully supportive of and wish him the very best of luck."
"Craig's departure is the end of an era for the club in many ways, having been a big part of our region's golfing community and he should be extremely proud of his commitment and contribution to the sport over the past two decades."
The club will weigh up its next steps in coming days.
