While they have played at the major event for the past decade they haven't had the chance to play mixed doubles due to being in different age groups.
Sophie, 22, and Patrick, 19, are representing the south-west in the 25 and under competition.
Patrick has just moved up from the 18 and under category.
They believe the key to success will be enjoying themselves and not putting too much pressure on each other.
"We go really well, we know each other's games, we talk well and we have fun," Sophie said of their past mixed doubles experiences.
They both made a perfect start to the three-day tournament which has attracted more than 200 players from across the state to Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club.
Sophie won her women's 25 and under singles 3-6, 6-0, 10-5 on Friday morning.
There was a sense of déjà vu for Sophie who defeated the same opponent in three sets during round one of inter-regionals last year.
"It was a tough one, I made hard work of it," she said.
"Had a slow start and then I started playing better.
"I don't really play singles, I more play doubles during the year.
"So this is the only time I really play singles."
She's also playing doubles with Jess Swarbrick - another member of the south-west's 42-member team.
Patrick had success in his opening men's 25 and under singles match with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph on Friday morning.
He'll go to battle in the 25 and under doubles with Warrnambool's Harry Boyd.
"I had a bit of a slow start because I don't play on grass normally," Patrick said of his singles win.
"Once I got in the rhythm of things it flowed on from there, I played a bit better in the second set."
The 19-year-old is taking on players that could be up to six years older than him.
"I'm obviously fairly young playing in the under 25s, playing against some older people so it's a good challenge for me," he said.
The siblings added they enjoyed the positive team spirit of the south-west group.
