Wentwood, with top jockey Damian Lane aboard, defeated Princess Jenni by a neck with Djukon in third place.
The win is Raymond's sixth from 37 runners since she started training late last year.
Wentwood won the Werribee Cup at his previous start and will now be set for the $160,000-listed Bagot Handicap at Flemington on New Years Day.
"Today's race was a progression to the Bagot," Raymond said.
"We'll see what Damian says but as long as he comes through the run well. Obviously he's had a big prep but if he comes through it as well as he's come through his other runs then that's where we'll head."

Wentwood has won over $142,000 from his victories at Werribee and Flemington to take his stake earnings to more then $235,000.
Raymond's metropolitan win kept up the recent excellent winning strike rate by Warrnambool trainers over the last six weeks.
Meanwhile, Ciaron Maher's top filly Away Game lost no admirers going forward with a second placing to Isotope in the $200,000 Gold Edition Plate at Doomben on Saturday.
Maher, who trains in partnership with David Eustace, said Away Game will be improved after the first-up performance.
Both fillies look likely to clash again in the $1.94 million Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast on January 16.
Away Game is rated a $6 second favourite by the bookies to win the Guineas while Isotope is the early $3 favourite.
