The Warrnambool-based competitor expects to fly to Perth on Christmas Day in preparation for WA speedweek which starts on Boxing Day.
"(I'll probably fly over) on Christmas Day. It is pretty standard for me," he said.
"We don't really do Christmas Day very often because we're always racing Boxing Day somewhere.
"For as long as I can remember we (my family) do Christmas the week before."
The Boxing Day meeting is one of six McFadden will contest in Western Australia, where his Monte Motorsports team is based. Speedweek wraps up on January 9.
McFadden will miss Premier Speedway's season-opener on January 1 but is committed to the 50 For 50 two-night event on January 22-23.
He will also contest the Kings Challenge (Mount Gambier) and Presidents Cup (Avalon) in the days leading up to the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic replacement show.
"With the car owner (Luch Monte) being from Perth, it's good to race a few races in front of him," McFadden said.
"There's a new track I haven't raced on before so that will be fun and I always enjoy WA, they're bigger tracks over there and it's fun to hang out with Luch and all the mates we have over there.
"It will be a good trip for sure."
The two-time classic winner said he was at ease with the uncertainty of a season impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It is nice to have some plans but the way the world is right now you can't really plan too much because it could all change tomorrow," he said.
McFadden is working for sprintcar competitor Jack Lee at Lee Contracting in the short-term, doing mechanical projects.
It comes after he returned from the United States and endured a two-week quarantine in a Sydney hotel.
"The last few days were tough, I started getting pretty bored and not having fresh air was pretty rough," he said.
"I knew going to America I had to do that, pay the money and do the time (when I got home) so it wasn't like it came as a shock or a surprise."
