Gill Vorwerk became Timboon Bowling Club's first female division one skipper.
Timboon Gold fell to City Gold in a top-grade Western District Bowls Division thriller. City Gold got the chocolates 56 shots to 54.
"I skip on a Tuesday but this is the first Saturday I've done," Vorwerk said during the match.
"It's nerve-racking but because I skip during the week and I have with the girls for a long time, it's not an unfamiliar role; it's just a bit more pressure on a Saturday."

Vorwerk said it was great to be rewarded for her efforts.
"They (women) probably don't get as much recognition or promotion as perhaps the blokes do," she said.
"It's starting to happen more and more.
"We're getting a lot of women coming through who have every bit as much potential and it's good to see some acknowledgement happening right throughout.
"We see there's a number of women across the greens here (at City Memorial on Saturday), it's good to see that happening."
Vorwerk said she wasn't the first woman to skipper in top-level WDBD weekend pennant with the likes of Dennington's Maureen Drennan having achieved the feat.
Vorwerk said while it was a historic day she just wanted to do her bit for the team.
"I just hope I skipper well and bowl well, it's not necessarily all about my bowls," she said.
"Obviously you want to bowl well but it's about making sure I can get the best out of the team."
Vorwerk's teammate Gary Duro was thrilled to see her get the promotion.
He has been playing for the club for almost a decade.
The former Timboon footballer enjoys the social and competitive side of the sport.
"It's good socialising, you're meeting guys you used to play footy and tennis against years ago," he said.
"Now you're playing bowls against them, it's good that way."
Duro said there was a good atmosphere at the club since the return of bowls.
"We're only a little club but we have a good time," he said.
He rated the City Gold match as a chance for his team to bounce back.
"We've been going pretty well, last week we played Port Fairy which they beat us at home - which was probably one we thought we might have won.
"But otherwise it's been a pretty good year."
Duro also plays for Timboon Maroon in division one midweek pennant. It is on top of the ladder.
The bowler was also pleased to see City Memorial will be hosting the Bowls Victoria State Champions Week in January.
It was confirmed last month Warrnambool would host the event normally in Bendigo.
"It's good news for the area, to see the best of Victoria play," he said.
"You wouldn't know when you're going to do it again."
In other matches, Warrnambool Gold defeated Koroit Blue 66-45, City Red beat Terang Green 65-48, Warrnambool Blue won a two-shot nail-biter (57-55) against Mortlake Blue and Dennington Jets secured a thrilling 63-62 victory over Port Fairy Red.
