The duo were part of Factory's first women's cricket triumph on Sunday, downing Brierly-Christ Church by 78 runs away from home.

Noske-Poulton, Nestles' inaugural women's skipper, said the result was years in the making.

"It's been great to have a women's team going. A lot of these ladies played when they were younger and it's been good that a women's comp has been able to get up and going," she told The Standard.

"It's been good instead of being thrown in with the men's grades. It's expanding and it's about growing a pathway for the young ones coming up.

"A few of them might've been ending their cricket (after juniors) beforehand but it's great to have somewhere to play in Warrnambool." Herbertson said the side had the perfect mix of youth and experience.

"We've got a lot of younger girls and those who've played a lot of cricket," she said.

"The teamwork and supporting each other is a bit of fun. We didn't go out there to win, we played to enjoy it and just have fun.

"It's a pretty cool thing to play in the first-ever senior team. Everyone is so keen to get in and have a go. It doesn't matter at the end of the day, it's just some fun."

The duo said the club had been a staunch supporter of female cricket and the women's players "always felt they're backing us".

"It's just a great atmosphere between us all," Noske-Poulton said.

"We all have fun and just want to show our talent."

In the other fixture, West Warrnambool defeated the Grassmere Cricket Association side by nine wickets.

Hannah Meates starred with an unbeaten 31 while Lisa Heeps took 2-6 off three.
