Joshua Lombardo, 22, appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Friday for a filing hearing.
He was this week charged with careless driving, failing to give way and dangerous driving causing death following a fatal crash on the Hopkins Highway on March 30 this year.
The man will face a committal mention hearing in the same court on February 19 next year.
Police previously told The Standard that the victim, a 46-year-old Warrnambool motorcyclist, was travelling north on the Hopkins Highway, between Philmore Road and Bridge Road, when he and a Holden Rodeo utility collided at 7am.
The accused immediately stopped and rendered assistance.
Several members of the public also stopped and assisted with CPR and first aid but the rider was unable to be saved and died at the scene.
The victim was the seventh person to die on south-west roads this year after accidents at Woorndoo, Allansford, Macarthur, Noorat, Dennington and Southern Grampians.
The Warrnambool police highway patrol unit have this week been promoting National Road Safety Week, which runs from November 15 to 22.
