The joint effort between some of the region's churches, King's College and Homeseeka Real Estate, saw bags that had been delivered to 1500 homes collected last weekend filled with non-perishable items.
On Wednesday, the food was donated to Foodshare as a way to help out those in need in the lead-up to Christmas.
Warrnambool and District Baptist Church pastor Paul Pallot said it was such a positive experience they were planning to run similar drives in other areas of the city next year.
"Most people were very generous. We had two out of three houses contribute and some people even gave more than they could fit in the bag," he said.
"It was pretty special and great to be part of."
He said the vast majority of the bags were filled and they were able to hand over plenty of staple supplies to Foodshare such as pasta, biscuits, cereal and cans.
