And there's proof.

The team, which didn't win a game last summer, has won its first three matches of the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association season.

The Pirates claimed a strong win against Nestles at Avery's Paddock last weekend and face Wesley-CBC this Saturday at Walter Oval.

"It's great to have some new players and some new youth and a bit of energy," Williams said.

"That's probably the biggest thing, the energy those guys like Alex (Jennings) and Sam Wilson and Pitty (Mark Pitt) and all them boys bring us this year, it's been great.

"I think we are gelling pretty well, we've hardly had a change in our first three games so the consistency is there with our side, which always helps.

"Previous years we've probably had a fair few changes week-to-week so that camaraderie is there and it's really enjoyable."

Williams explained Wilson and Pitt had come over from Portland.

Factory posted 131 before Port Fairy chased it down in 30 overs on Saturday.

Williams opened the batting and top-scored with 81 not out.

"It was just a matter of batting the overs I guess, not rushing to get the runs," he said.

"Knowing that it's a good pitch and outfield and if you get in, you're going to get rewards.

"That's the way I took it on and it was pleasing to get the win in the end."

Wilson, who claimed 1-19 with the ball, also posted 21 not out; helping the Pirates sail home.

Williams said there was a good atmosphere at the club.

"It's a great place to be around, full stop," he said.

"Especially when you're winning cricket, it makes it a lot more enjoyable.

"It's good to walk down the street and people really take care of what the cricket team is doing.

"If we're going well it just makes it better around the place (Port Fairy) as well.

"It's three wins, we're not getting carried away, we'll enjoy the win and then we'll go again."

In other matches this weekend, sixth-placed Nestles takes on third-ranked Russells Creek.

Ninth-placed Allansford-Panmure faces fourth-ranked Brierly-Christ Church.

West Warrnambool is after its first win when it battles second-positioned Woodford.

Merrivale is also in search of its first victory. The Tigers host fifth-placed Dennington.
