Ballyhurst in Killarney was built as a nod to the homes in Tipperary, Ireland.
The original owners - Mary White and William Mahoney - met on a ship to Australia from Ballyhurst county in Tipperary and married in Melbourne in 1843 before building at Killarney in 1858
The home was built with white firestone quarried in the district and timber brought across from Tasmania.
A detatched kitchen was built, which was a popular feature of 19th Century Irish houses.
The stunning home, a nod to yesteryear, is about to be listed for sale with Harris and Wood Real Estate.
Set on three hectares, the four-bedroom house has stunning period features including original fireplaces and the interior structure was built with Tasmanian hardwood.
The home was once part of a much larger property which was run as a dairy farm by the Mahoney family.
The ground floor of the main home has two spacious living areas with cedar mantelpieces and two bedrooms while there are two large attic bedrooms upstairs.
The property has a tennis court, making it the perfect offering for a family or someone looking to operate it as a bed and breakfast.
Much of the home retains its original flooring.
The kitchen has a brick baker's oven which was constantly in use to feed the Mahoney family's eight children and staff who worked on the farm.
In this oven the couple's two daughters would bake the family's bread supply - about 20 loaves a week.
It also offers a large pantry, a feature needed for the family as trips to Warrnambool or Port Fairy were infrequent when they lived there.
Real estate agent Danny Harris said he believed the property, with its unique architecture, would attract interest from both local and out of town buyers.
The home is set to be listed for offers of between $1.34 and $1.45 million.
