There was an accident on the south side of the Raglan Parade-Japan Street intersection about 9am.

Warrnambool police highway patrol Acting Sergeant Jason Barker said no one was injured.

"But, it is timely to remind motorists to drive to the conditions. It's obviously wet out there and a bit slippery. Visibility is also reduced," he said.

"We advise drivers to have their headlights on and to give themselves a bit more space between them and the vehicle they are following."

Acting Sergeant Jason Barker said that during the AFL long weekend it was expected that there would be an increase in traffic on the roads.

"Statewide we are running Operation Saturn for the next 18 days covering the AFL grand final public holiday and the Melbourne Cup extra-long weekend," he said.

"The focus will be speeding drivers but we will also be targeting the other four main factors in road trauma - distraction, fatigue, impaired driving and failing to wear a seat belt.

"Locally we have also had a spike in collisions involving cyclists and incidents relating to other vulnerable road users, pedestrians.

"There will be extra police on the roads for the next 18 days across the south-west so be prepared to see more police on patrol and alcohol and drug testing sites will be operating," he said.
