Cameos from Jackson Rock (36 runs) and Matthew Boyle (25) pushed Cobden within six runs of toppling powerhouse Mortlake this past week.
Opener Jack Hutt was the only other batsman to crack a score of 20.
While Benallack was hopeful his top-order could chip in as the Knights plot the downfall of Camperdown on Friday, the club's new-found batting depth was boosting confidence.
"It definitely gives us plenty of confidence," he said.
We know if we don't get off to a good start, we have that power down the order to blast 50 or 60 runs in the last 10 overs.

"We know if we don't get off to a good start, we have that power down the order to blast 50 or 60 runs in the last 10 overs. The biggest thing we've been able to take forward is that we have a fair bit of batting depth."
Benallack said Camperdown, which is led by new skipper Simon Richardson, was an unknown.
"They didn't play last week as they had a bye so you can't go in and expect them to be good or to be bad," he told The Standard.
"In the first 20 overs last week we went in and restricted Mortlake to not many runs so I think we'll need to do that again."
He said with no division two and three fixtures, "about 15 blokes" had put their hand up to play.
Benallack said teams would be finalised on Thursday evening and widespread changes were unlikely.
"It's going to be a hard selection," he said.
"I'm fairly sure most of our division one guys are available so I don't think it'll be too different.
"Speaking with the Camperdown boys, we thought playing on the public holiday would give people a good long weekend after cricket."
The match starts at 11.30am at Cobden.
