Thompson's side produced a comeback to secure the flag, reversing a two-and-a-half goal deficit at quarter time to run out 13.9 (87) to 7.6 (48) winners over North Adelaide on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was gallant in defence, clunking 10 marks to keep his opponent at bay.
Thompson, who was raised at Port Campbell before a stint at AFL club Adelaide, also managed 19 disposals in the 39-point rout.
Former AFL talents Jordan Foote, who spent time at Sydney, and Jimmy Toumpas, who played for Melbourne and Port Adelaide, starred for Woodville-West Torrens and helped turn the game.
Foote kicked four goals and accrued 24 disposals and seven clearances en route the win.
