Morawiecki had contact with the infected person on Friday.
The government continues to operate normally and the upcoming government sitting will be conducted via video conference, a common practice in recent months.
In the message, the head of the Polish government appeals to citizens to observe the principles of combating COVID-19: disinfecting hands, social distancing and wearing masks.
The prime minister has not been diagnosed with COVID-19, nor does he exhibit symptoms of illness, the government website says.
As a rule, mandatory quarantine in Poland lasts 10 days for those who do not display symptoms of COVID-19.
Poland has recorded a sharp increase in the number of positive coronavirus tests in recent weeks.
On Tuesday, more than 5000 new cases were reported, bringing the total up to more than 135,000.
More than 3100 people have died due to COVID-19 in the country since the pandemic began.
