Lee said the five-year-old, who has 17 career wins and has won $283,835 in prize money, had been scratched from his previous first-up run last week.
"It's going to be a big ask after we had him scratched last week because of a little infection we detected on his blood test and we treated him for that," she said.
"We need the run in a top class field and it's somewhere we need to start him. It's not ideally what we want but he has done a fair bit of work he is just not at 100 per cent."
Lee said the next aim for Code Bailey was the $425,000 A.G Hunter Cup in February.
Mattie Craven is also heading to Melton on Saturday. The Terang trainer and driver has star Pink Galahs, Gus An Maori and Aldebaran Tess running while Arden Roanoke has been scratched from the last race.
Pink Galahs is vying for her sixth win in seven races in the group one $50,000 Aldebaran Park Bill Collins Trotters Sprint over 1720 metres.
