Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Richard Russell said the highest fall was 130millimetres, at Mount Buffalo.

That was followed by falls of 129mm at Archerton, 123mm at Mount Buller and Mount Hotham 113mm.

"It looks like a fairly good proportion of the north east scored the most of the rain in the last few days," Mr Russell said.

"Of note is the south-west, parts got around or above 100mm, notably Warrnambool, with 107mm, recorded in the last few days."

He said flood warnings had also been issued for the Glenelg, Upper Barwon, Goulburn and Macalister Rivers, as well as the Seven and Castle Creeks.

Winds were expected to contract to the Gippsland coast.

"It's going to be quite windy right across a lot of southern Victoria as that low pressure only slowly moves away,' Mr Russell said.

"Over the coming days we become dominated by a high pressure system, which means thankfully means those winds will ease signifcatly.

"Even though there is a weak front, coming through on Saturday, that won't bring a strong increase in the winds."
