A WARRNAMBOOL man who allegedly drove at 90 km/h on a suburban street in Port Fairy has had his car impounded and faces a string of charges.

Port Fairy Sergeant David Walkley said the 27-year-old was seen "driving erratically" on the Princes Highway at Illowa on Sunday.
"Port Fairy police attempted to intercept him in town. He's taken off at a fast rate of speed through Port Fairy residential streets," Sergeant Walkley said.
Police did not initiate a pursuit but arrested him on Sunday at an address in the town after he failed to stop.
"He has never held a driver's licence. The car was unregistered with no plates," Sergeant Walkley said.
He said the man was driving a silver Holden Astra hatchback, which police impounded.
Police allege he was travelling approximately 90 km/h an hour in a 50 km/h residential street.
Sergeant Walkley said Port Fairy police were appealing for witnesses who might have sighted the driver in the Osmonds Lane or Williams Street area.
The man was charged with failing to stop, conduct engendering serious injury, driving in a manner dangerous, driving an unregistered vehicle and committing indubitable offences while on bail.
He was bailed and appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday where the case was adjourned until May.
