But the Camperdown Theatre Company is streaming their popular 2016 production into homes to keep the festivities alive.
Shaz and Nick's Big Greek Wedding is a comedic production featuring an all-star Camperdown cast across a number of venues including The Five Star Function Centre at Leura Oval, The Cobden and Camperdown golf courses and the Noorat Community Centre.
Keeping the joy of theatre in people's lives is a big motivation behind the Camperdown Theatre Company's venture into the world of online streaming.
The streaming is made possible with the help of the Corangamite Shire Council and Camperdown Theatre Company secretary Toby McKenzie is looking forward to sharing the production once again.
"We are very happy to work with the Shire to give our community something to enjoy during this challenging time and we thank them for their support," he said.
"Everyone is encouraged to join us from their lounge rooms and enjoy the ridiculous antics of Shaz and Nick's wedding, from meeting the parents to drunken antics and everything in-between."
The production stars Martinique McKenzie and James Anderson alongside Pauline Van Dijk, Toby McKenzie, Tobin Varley, Caleb Ziegeler, Bonnie Ailey and many others.
Corangamite Shire chief executive officer Andrew Mason hopes this, and many more projects, will help to boost morale across the Shire and beyond.
"The arts and culture sector have been badly impacted by COVID-19 with social distancing meaning that shows in front of a live audience can't go ahead for now. Online streaming is a way of celebrating our vibrant local arts and culture" he said.
"The Camperdown Theatre Company's streamed performance is a great way for everyone across the shire to come together as a community to enjoy a night of fun and laughter from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
"Sharing group experiences reminds us that we belong and provides a huge boost for everyone's mental health and wellbeing, especially after being separated from one-another for so long."
Shaz and Nick's Big Greek Wedding will be streamed on Friday, September 25 at 7.30pm with information on how to access the stream available via www.camperdowntheatrecompany.com.au and www.corangamite.vic.gov.au
