Southern Grampians Shire Council has 15 nominees in the running for one of seven seats.
Mayor Chris Sharples, Greg McAdam, Albert Calvano, Mary-Ann Brown and Katrina Rainsford are nominating for another term while current councillors Cathy Armstrong and Colin Dunkley are not re-contesting their seats.
Newcomers Nick Brown, Peter Foley, Bronwyn Dwight, Helen Henry, Ama Cooke, David Robertson, Lyn Lewis, Fran Malone, Bruach Colliton and Ken Campbell are all hoping to be elected.
In Glenelg Shire Council 15 people have put their names forward for one of the seven vacancies.
Robert Halliday is the only current councillor departing the role as Geoff White, Chrissy Hawker, Gilbert Wilson, Alistair McDonald, Karen Stephens and mayor Anita Rank have all nominated for another term.
Michael Carr, Robyn McDonald, Scott Martin, Jayden Smith, John Northcott, David Wilson, Alan Palmer , George Kozarevski and Malcolm Alexander have all put their names in the ring for the shire election.
Council ballots will be drawn this afternoon.
