Today we give ratepayers a glimpse of who's who in the race for the seven councillor positions on offer.
ANOTHER CRACK
Five of the seven sitting Moyne Shire councillors will contest the 2020 election.
Jill Parker and Mick Wolfe have announced they would not seek re-election.
This leaves Jim Doukas, Jordan Lockett, Colin Ryan, Ian Smith and Daniel Meade going for another shot at life in the council chamber.
COMEBACK KIDS
James Purcell has put up his hand to get back amongst the action at local government level.
Mr Purcell will bring plenty of experience to his quest, having served as a Moyne councillor from 2008-14, including two stints as mayor.
He left council to expand his horizons, spending 2014-18 as a member of the state government upper house for Western Victoria.
Another former councillor, Kelvin Goodall, has also entered the race.
Mr Goodall was on council for almost two years from the start of 2015 and was an unsuccessful candidate in 2016.
Another former councillor, Maurice Molan, had announced he would contest the election, but decided to withdraw.
BRAND NEW
Moyne ratepayers will need to pay attention over the next month as there are plenty of new faces to become familiar with before casting their votes.
First-time council candidates include Karen Foster, Viva-Lyn Lenehan, Arthur Hoey, Damian Gleeson, Genevieve Grant, Penny Iddon, Stephen Mackey, Bill Robinson and Ian Wallace.
While the 16 candidates represent a strong and varied field for people to cast their votes for, the numbers are down on this time four years ago.
Last time Moyne ratepayers had to vote in 2016, they had a field of 17 candidates to chose from.
WOMEN'S TOUCH
The sole female councillor among the current crop, Jill Parker, may be retiring, but the next wave of female candidates are ready to fill the void.
Late last year, the Women of Moyne group was formed to encourage more women to stand for council.
Interesting to note the four female candidates for 2020 is the same number that also contested the 2016 election, leaving the men once again outnumbering the women by a large margin.
WHERE FROM
Port Fairy has the most residents from any town standing at the election.
Five candidates live in Port Fairy, while nearby Rosebrook has two. Other areas where candidates are from include Koroit, Mailors Flat, Pura Pura, Killarney, Woolsthorpe, Garvoc, Mortlake Panmure and Purnim.
BALLOT DRAW
A draw was held on Tuesday to decide the order of candidates on the ballot.
The order is: Ian Wallace, Colin Ryan, Damian Gleeson, Stephen Mackey, Genevieve Grant, Penny Iddon, Daniel Meade, James Purcell, Jordan Lockett, Kelvin Goodall, Karen Foster, Viva-Lyn Lenehan, Ian Smith, Arthur Hoey, Bill Robinson, Jim Doukas.
