Nancie Schipper will take centre stage for the first time in a long time on Friday night as part of Mushroom Group and the state government's Victoria Together music initiative The State of Music - TOGETHER.

The four-part 30 minute broadcast through Facebook, YouTube and the Victoria Together website features three emerging artists performing two songs; an original and a cover.
The Killarney singer-songwriter filmed her performance at The Dart and Marlin about a month ago with the help of Chris Barks Sound and James Kol Creative.
"We love The Dart, it's such a beautiful location," Schipper said. "It's nice to be reminded about being in a venue and it made me miss live music.
"It means a lot that the government and Mushroom are supporting people in Victoria. The way I build my audience is playing gigs and I haven't had any opportunity to do that this year, but this is a way to do that."
In the set, Schipper will perform her 2019 release When You Get Home and a cover one of her favourite songs, Hoops by The Rubens.
"I love that song to death so I had to do that," she said. "I randomly learnt it for an Instagram live earlier this year and I never got to work on it more and play it live.
"It's so important to me to pay tribute to an artists work in a cover but to also add my own twist. When I think of my own favourite covers, it's when an artist takes a song to new level and I always try and do that."
Schipper will be introduced in the episode by Melbourne artist Alex Lahey who she recently supported on her regional tour in October and November.
"It's such a huge opportunity and I'm so stoked to be a part of it," Schipper said. "To have an established artist introducing me, it makes it feel like a support gig.
"Alex is one of the most loveliest people I've met in the industry. She's been such a mentor, and any questions I have or advice I need she'll tell me to give her a call about it.
"I look up to her so much and I'm so grateful for her being there for me."
Amid the pandemic, Schipper has been evolving her writing skills and exploring her interests outside of music.
"This year I was planning on stepping back on gigs and releasing," she said. "I started studying a Certificate IV in Disability at TAFE and I'm looking into entering that industry and eventually linking it with my music.
"I'm still doing music and I've been having a lot writing sessions but I think it will be a while before any new stuff. But when I do, there will be a lot."
