Linking caravan parks and Lake Pertobe to a revitalised Flagstaff Hill with an operating pub is what Kylie Gaston wants to see happen if she is relected to Warrnambool City Council.

The former mayor has announced that she is running for council in the October elections and says she focused on a vibrant future for the city.
She said her new goal was to "open up flaggy and bring back the pub". Her idea would mean bringing the fully-licenced Steam Packet Inn back into operation and make the tearooms more accessible.
"It's an amazing, underutilised space, so let's invest in an underpass/overpass to actively link Flagstaff Hill to our caravan parks and Lake Pertobe," Cr Gaston said
"With free open access, tourism possibilities are endless. We can open the fully licensed hotel for business," she said.
"Imagine your new 'local' on warm summer nights. Kids can roam and play and the tea shop will have many more customers to serve scones and cream.
"Our fully credited museum will be far more accessible for both future generations and tourists to understand the rich history and stories of our city."
Cr Gaston said that revenue would be generated through offering great products to the people accessing the site for free rather than an entrance fee.
"It will make it easier for South Warrnambool and Merrivale residents to walk to Flagstaff Hill, further connecting our city," she said.
"By making this change we can dramatically increase Flagstaff Hill's potential and the value of our entire foreshore precinct."
Cr Gaston said that, especially during these "strange times", it was reassuring to know we live in such a beautiful place.
"I love Warrnambool and wish to continue to work hard making our city even better year by year," she said.
Cr Gaston listed some of the achievements of council as rolling out the FOGO bin system - a leading example in Victoria - a revitalised Liebig Street, Reid Oval transformation and Library Learning Hub with Tafe.
"As a community, we are loyal and connected to Warrnambool because we love where we live. I hope to keep working with vision for Warrnambool's future," she said.
Cr Gaston joins councillors Mike Neoh and Robert Anderson who have also announced they are running. Tracey Togni, Ben Blain and Jim Burke and Otha Akoch have also announced their intention to run for city council.
