The Standard was this week contacted by coaches seeking clarification on the rules after the top body released updated COVID-19 protocols last week.
Government restrictions stipulate no community sport training or competition can occur under stage three restrictions.
But the same rules suggest people two people from different households can "exercise or undertake sporting activities" if they can maintain a 1.5-metre distance.

Stage three restrictions will currently expire on September 16.
A Cricket Victoria spokesperson said the top body's stance was to ensure the sport could start on time.

"Ultimately it is up to police to determine if restrictions have been breached, so if there is any doubt we'd encourage people stay home and contact the COVID information line on 1800 675 398 if they need further clarification."
Warrnambool and District Cricket Association chairman Gordon McLeod last week said the competition could be pushed back from its October start date to allow clubs to prepare correctly in pre-season.
