Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Sunday that schools would return to remote learning on Wednesday but specialist schools were exempt from the coronavirus restrictions.
It is understood some south-west specialist school teachers have expressed concerns at face-to-face teaching continuing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Member for South West Coast Roma Britnell has received correspondence from a number of specialist school teachers in Warrnambool and Portland since the changes were announced .
Ms Britnell said she had alerted the Minister for Education James Merlino to the teacher's concerns.
The Premier also said parents who had work commitments would be allowed to send their children to school, but all other students will be required to stay at home.
Mr Andrews outlined a schedule for schools on Sunday beginning with attendance as usual on Monday, a pupil free day on Tuesday and a return to online learning on Wednesday with specialist school students allowed to go to school.
"The question I know most parents will be asking - regional schools will return to remote and flexible learning across all year levels and across the state. The only exception will be for our specialist schools," he said.
"Onsite supervision will again be made available for students who need it, including children whose parents are permitted workers and vulnerable kids who can't learn from home. We know this will be a significant ask of parents with little ones - and big ones too. But I promise, as a parent to three, it's an ask I don't make lightly.
"These changes will be in place for at least the next six weeks.
"As always, we'll keep reviewing and realigning the restrictions in line with the advice of our health experts - and if we can change things earlier, we will."
Merri River School was approached for comment but the school did not respond before deadline.
