The Saints were awarded $22,000 from Moyne Shire as part of its Community Assistance Fund and a further $8000 was secured from Pacific Hydro's South West Sustainable Community Fund.

Club president Bailen McDonald said the cash injection would go to upgrading the Saints' home ground.

"We're going to put that towards a picket fence around the Jack Keane like what Killarney has," he said.

"We've been thinking about it for a while and then we found out about the grants and got in quickly. My old man Jarron did most of work to get grants.

"We're also getting a couple of grandstands as a few trees have been knocked down and we'll use some of the grants for some little grandstands at either end of the ground."

McDonald, who recently raised $7590 for Suicide Prevention Australia by doing Dry July, said the upgrades were a massive boost for the club.

"It makes it look a bit better and more appealing for country week games and we obviously want to get up to the ones and want to have good facilities to do that as well," he said.

"We are always looking to improve. Our social rooms could do with an upgrade and we have just completed our new curator's shed, which is a bit of a upgrade from the dingy one we had before.

"We also got new turf a couple of seasons ago and it's still getting there and is not where we wanted it at this stage but we knew it was going to take time to grow in.

"There's also been a new car park and roundabout in between the footy club's social rooms and the Jack Keane."
