Warrnambool police will conduct a line search of the Huntingfield Drive area in east Warrnambool after the death of a Warrnambool man last weekend.
Detective Senior Constable Craig Wastell, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said officers were notified at 1pm last Sunday the body of the 44-year-old man had been found near Proudfoots.
That search will be conducted on Friday morning from about 9am after the man's mobile telephone was found in that area.
Huntingfield Drive is located on the south side of the railway line behind the Homemaker Centre in east Warrnambool.
The man's body was found in the lower reaches of the Hopkins River off the boat ramp near Proudfoots.
There are no suspicious circumstances and police are waiting for the man's telephone records to be provided.
Detective Senior Constable Wastell said it was understood that people had contact with the man on Friday.
"We would like to speak to anyone who saw the man on Friday or Saturday," he said.

Sunday, 5pm: A man's body was found in the Hopkins River near Proudfoots on Sunday afternoon.
The man is yet to be formally identified.
Warrnambool police and State Emergency Services responded to the incident at 1.30pm.
SES controller Giorgio Palmeri said his team helped retrieve the body from the river.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
The matter is not being treated as suspicious.
Earlier: Police and SES are responding to an incident at the Hopkins River near Proudfoots by the River.
On Sunday afternoon a State Emergency Services tent was set up near the ski club and police were on scene.
Details about the incident are scant, but it appears to be a joint operation between police and Warrnambool SES.
