Mrs Milne's niece Faye organised a birthday party on Friday at Gillin Park for her aunt where close friends and family gathered while abiding by social distancing restrictions.
"It was lovely to bring such joy and pleasure," Mrs Smith said.
"I thought it was something to do to make the day more special.
"The looks on their faces in such sad times were wonderful and she was very emotional."
The Salvation Army band were on hand to play Happy Birthday for the occasion and balloons, drinks and plenty of servings of cake created a festive atmosphere.
Mrs Milne has been living in Gillin Park retirement village for about 18 months and her family describes her as an outgoing community member.
"She's very social and has been involved in the Country Women's Association and the Salvation Army and lots of other things," Mrs Smith said.
"She's just a lovely lady."
