Chortomic beat Frankly Harvey by more than three lengths with Undoubtedly finishing third in the benchmark 64.
Daffey, who only has one horse in work, is also the stud manager at Claremont Thoroughbreds Balmoral which stands Chortomic's sire Atomic.
"I thought Chortomic had to be hard to beat on his last run in town," he said.
"Chortomic loves wet ground. His form this time in work has been consistent. It was a very good ride by Tatum Bull and it's great to get another winner for our stallion Atomic."
Chortomic has won four of his 16 starts. The stud is also standing first season stallion Royal Symphony. He won four of his eight starts including running fourth in the 2017 Cox Plate behind the mighty mare Winx.
Jockey Dean Yendall took the riding honours with a winning double on the heavy rated track. He was successful on Royal Exit and Who Doubted Me.
Top trainer Patrick Payne had two winners. He won with Who Doubted Me and Glass Ceiling while Warrnambool trainers Matthew Williams and Lindsey Smith led in winners on the nine-race program.
Royal Exit won at his racecourse debut for Williams. Lido Beach came from well back in the field to register his first Victoria win for Smith.
