One of her runners took out race five and she was thrilled to be back among the harness racing community again.

It came after she had a two-month break due to setbacks including sustaining a lacerated spleen after a track work fall.

"It was pretty good, everybody was pretty happy to see me back there of course," the Heywood trainer said.

"It was nice to be able to get back on track and watch the horses go around instead of being at home or in a hospital bed watching on my phone."

Julius Shadow, driven by Michael Bellman, got the chocolates for East in the 1680-metre race five on Wednesday night at Terang.

East co-owns the bay/brown colt with Adelaide couple Bob and Sue Tuddenham.

The pacer collected $3990 in prize money for the team.

East wasn't surprised by the victory given she considered Julius Shadow one of her best chances on the night.

"He was a bit unlucky in his first start back at Stawell (last week) where he hit the mobile (start gate) and didn't begin as well as normal and the driver had to take hold," she said.

"Wednesday night worked in our a favour, he got to the front, dictated terms and was strong enough to hold them off."

It was a successful night for south-west trainers.

Mataderos claimed race three victory for Ecklin South's Paddy Lee.

Gus an Maori delivered in race seven for Ecklin South's Mattie Craven.

Be The One took race six glory for Scotts Creek's Xavier O'Connor.

Portland's Donna Bourke also tasted success with Rhythm and Grace bringing home the win in the final race.
