The person is from the same household as a previously identified person and was a close contact, says Portland District Health chief executive Chris Giles.

They have been in home isolation since being identified as a close contact.

"This morning we received notification that a fourth person tested positive to COVID-19," she said.

"Of the four cases detected in the Portland Fever Clinic, two are receiving care in a hospital with higher level capabilities than PDH and two are in isolation at home.

"All the cases can be linked back to the first case, who was a Melbourne resident with a legitimate reason to be in Portland."

Ms Giles said the contact tracing team had concluded the tracing on the first three cases with close contacts tested and now in home isolation.

Contact tracing has now commenced on the fourth case, any close contacts will be notified.

PDH staff and the public health team are supporting all cases in Portland with daily contact and support as needed.

"I know that we as a Portland community will be kind and compassionate as we attend to the daily activities we need to whilst following the public health advice diligently and reminding those around us to do the same," Ms Giles said.

"Remember the coronavirus is very infectious and no one is immune to this virus.

"If you have even the mildest symptoms please stay at home and get tested."
