A single-vehicle accident has left a car "completely destroyed" and the driver with minor injuries after the car collided with a tree.

Hamilton police attended the scene outside of Cavendish where a vehicle ran off the highway at about 4pm on Sunday.
A police spokesman said the single occupant received only minor injuries.
"The car ran off the highway and into a tree," the spokesperson said.
"The vehicle is totalled, caught fire and is completely destroyed."
The male driver received minor injuries and was take to Hamilton Hospital for observation.
