The $10,000 project was lodged by Lawrie Voutier and earmarked for a 3.42 hectare lot at Depot Road, Camperdown.
It looks to use 1.2 hectares of that land for the holding of material like scrap vehicles and ferrous metal.
A limit of 250 tonnes is proposed, before the material is relocated.
No material is to be crushed or processed on site, which will not be open to the public.
There will be a skip bin area of approximately 60 bins, a new driveway off an existing entry from Depot Road and staff car parking for three cars.
The site is proposed to operate from 7am to 3.30pm, with a maximum of six trucks per day when the site reaches it storage maximum of material and requires removal from the site.
A new fence is proposed on the inner side of the existing Depot Road for landscaping and the north boundary is to be fenced.
An open spoon drain would be provided along the north boundary of the property.
Corangamite Shire Council planning officer Aaron Moyne said the proposed yard was located in an industrial zone away from residential properties.
