Tiarni Belazs, 15, was inspired to imagine what school would be like upon returning from remote learning and her classmates and art teacher Andrea Rafferty helped capture a series of photographs depicting social distancing and hygiene measures at the school. The students planned, edited and built upon the photographs for the exhibition which features students in masks, staying 1.5 metres apart and distorted images.
Coincidentally, the humanities class were putting together a series of words to describe the changes coronavirus was having on their lives and the English department penned a poem about the pandemic.
"We do a collaborative piece every year where the students are inspired by a photographer," Mrs Rafferty said. "This year we were studying Gregory Crewsdon's film stills and the students began thinking of words and ideas relating to Covid-19.
"The students structured and planned each photograph to create the series."
Tiarni was thrilled to see the exhibition hung in the college's library.
"It's a lot to take in," she said.
"Our principal asked us if we thought someone would know about the context of our situation and I don't think they would unless they lived here.
"The words and poem give the audience a context so people in five years time will know what we went through."
The exhibition will be added to and spread throughout the school in the coming weeks before being added to Warrnambool College's art collection.
"It will go into the archives as a visual representation of 2020," Mrs Rafferty said.
