Warrnambool police Sergeant Greg Cressall said the 31-year-old Warrnambool man has been charged with causing criminal damage and unlawful assault.
He was arrested, interviewed and remanded in custody on Wednesday to appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court today for a bail/remand hearing.
Police allege the man went to his new partner's home, they had a verbal argument, which led to him banging on doors, and he then smashed the windscreen of a vehicle with an unknown object.
He was arrested later on Wednesday.
Two other men in their early 20s are in custody, one for failing to appear in court when on bail and the other after a family violence incident during which he is alleged to have breached a court order.
