The league's board met on Wednesday to discuss the move after gathering feedback from clubs over the weekend.
Mininera president John Box said in a statement all clubs and board members respected the decision to cancel competition due to restrictions.
Box said while no senior football or netball would take place, the league was determined to get a junior competition off the ground in 2020.
