Victorian farmers are being urged to claim a $1200 rebate for two quad bike operator protection devices or for a safer alternative farm vehicle before the Quad Bike Safety Rebate Scheme closes on June 30.

The Victorian Farmers Federation president David Jochinke said quad bikes were a major cause of death and injuries on Victorian farms and safety must be the No. 1 priority for farmers.
"Tragically this year we've already had two deaths in Victoria related to quad bikes and nine across Australia, the majority which were a result of a rollover," he said.
"Safety is and must always be our top priority, we all have a role in keeping ourselves, our families and our workforce safe."
The group president said the program has been running since 2016 and had been successful in upgrading thousands of quad bikes to safer alternatives or installing protective OPDs on current models.
"More than five thousand Victorian farmers have already participated in the Quad Bike Safety Rebate Scheme, demonstrating their commitment to farm safety," Mr Jochinke said.
"I encourage all farmers who haven't yet taken advantage of this opportunity to get in before the scheme closes on June 30,"
