FOOTBALL'S top south-west body is urging clubs to ensure their defibrillators are in working order after a Geelong-based coach suffered a cardiac arrest at training last week.

AFL Western District commercial and operations manager Matt Ross said it was vital for clubs to check defibrillators following football and netball's COVID-19 shutdown.
"We want to ensure clubs are maintaining defib machines in working order," he said. Almost 100 lives were saved as a result of defibrillators in 2019 alone.

Defib For Life founding director Andrew White said the organisation was committed to helping clubs maintain rescue ready defibrillators.
