Senior Constable Paul Barker, of the Colac police highway patrol unit, said emergency services were called to a single-vehicle accident about 11am on Monday.
He said a woman aged in her 30s failed to negotiate a left-hand turn on the corner of the Princes Highway and Flaxmill Road at Colac East.
"The vehicle has gone through over the median strip, hit a stop sign and then into the lamp post," Senior Constable Barker said.
"The single occupant of the vehicle was not injured. The car was extensively damaged and towed from the scene."
Senior Constable Barker said investigations were ongoing.
"It appears she has failed to drive to conditions of the road, being very wet on Monday morning," he said.
"There are continuing investigations as to whether she will be charged."
Colac has copped nearly two millimetres of rain since 9am on Monday.
