The league will meet with club presidents on June 10 to discuss the state of play.

"If something dramatic changes between now and then, we'll go back and schedule it earlier," Mason said.

"We're working within the parameters we've got and what the (state) government wants us to do and as we get more information, make decisions from there."

Mason said the competition, which was put on hold before round one in April, needed to be adaptable.

"Every month we've met we've been dealt with something completely different," he said.

"We're hoping to hear some more information. Restrictions are being lifted and it changes daily, weekly.

"We are like everybody - I can't make decisions without full knowledge."

Koroit president Steve Hoy said the six-time reigning premier had decided to hold-off club-sanctioned training until after the June 10 meeting.

He said the current AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria protocols were "very stringent and very involved".

Currently, football teams can only train in groups of 10 - at opposite ends of the ground - and are limited to kicking and handball drills.

The guidelines also include thorough hygiene methods and rule out access to clubrooms.

"They put a lot on coaches and volunteers, so we are just waiting until there's a decision," Hoy said.

"Hopefully the groups become larger. At the moment there's no contact, hopefully that gets lifted."

Hoy said Koroit would consider training on if the season was cancelled and restrictions eased.

"We surveyed a lot of our players, coaches and families and regardless of what happens they would still be keen to train," he said.

"We need to look at those rules and regulations."

Hoy, who believes crowds are a must for a season to be viable, said a decision on 2020 must be considered.

He hopes Premier Dan Andrews will provide clarity on sporting crowd numbers if he speaks on Sunday.

"We can't charge into it, we have to assess each bit as it comes along," Hoy said.

"I can understand people wanting a decision but it's also not a time to rush into anything."
