A dangerous Warrnambool intersection has been earmarked for traffic lights after concerns were raised about schoolchildren being forced to play chicken to cross the road.

In March the spotlight was put on the number of near misses for pedestrians and motorists at two Raglan Parade intersections - at Ardlie Street and Botanic Road.
South West Coast MP Roma Britnell said increasing traffic had compounded the problem and it was time something was done before a tragedy happened.
Ms Britnell said she had now been told there were moves to install lights at the Raglan Parade intersection with Ardlie and Hider streets, but it is yet to be funded.
"The Department of Transport has let me know it believes the installation of traffic lights would be appropriate for the intersection," she said.
"They have developed a submission which is now subject to future funding programs.
"This is great news and a step in the right direction.
"This intersection was dangerous when I was a student at St Ann's.
Ms Britnell said the issue had been compounded by increasing traffic on Raglan Parade over the years, and there had been several near misses and minor accidents at the intersection.
"It's time something is done before a tragedy occurs," she said.

After speaking with residents, Emmanuel College principal Peter Morgan and Warrnambool mayor Tony Herbert, Ms Britnell asked Roads Minister Jaala Pulford to address the ongoing safety concerns at the intersection.
Ms Britnell said she would now continue to lobby the minister to ensure funding was made available as soon as possible to get this issue fixed.
"I'm pleased we have been able to gain a positive response," she said.
"This was brought to me by people who were worried something awful would happen if nothing was done.
"I'm pleased that we have taken this step forward, but there are a few more steps to take and I'll keep lobbying to make sure we move forward."
Concerns were also raised about the Raglan Parade intersection with Botanic Road.
Mr Morgan said that the Ardlie/Hider streets intersection with Raglan Parade was more of a problem for students walking to school, while the Botanic Road intersection was causing headaches for motorists.
He said even though the speed limit on Raglan Parade was slowed to 60km/h near the Botanic Road intersection, few were slowing down by the time they reached Ardlie Street.
